Precision meets creativity
Winery Sauska, Hungary
Kristián Sauska and his wife Andrea fulfilled their dream in 2003 and founded the Sauska winery in Tokaj, in north-east Hungary. The Villány estate was added in 2006.
The qualified engineer and the trained tourism expert may come from different professional backgrounds, but they still have a lot in common: their passion for wine and the same vision.
Kristián's precision, Andrea's creativity and the use of state-of-the-art techniques have ultimately produced an impressive portfolio of excellent wines.
»Over 100 Speidel tanks in various designs and capacities from 1,000 to 25,000 litres were installed.«
The winery in Tokaj is mainly known for its white wines, sweet wines and sparkling wines. A gigantic new building was recently inaugurated there. The spatial organisation of the new facility is specifically geared towards efficient wine production. The harvest is brought in from one side, processed in the cellar and stored in stainless steel tanks or oak barrels for fermentation, while the bottled grape juice leaves the building from the other side.
For this unique wine cellar, over 100 Speidel tanks in various designs and capacities from 1,000 to 25,000 litres were installed. In addition to the wine cellar, there is also a showroom, a sparkling wine bar, a vinotheque and a restaurant.
No less attractive is the Villány winery, which was added in 2006 and is run by daughter Stefanie and her husband Peter. Mainly red wines are grown here and, in addition to the winery, the estate also has a very renowned restaurant: the ‘Sauska 48’.
In 2015, Sauska bought the almost 400 metre long section of the historic cellar system of Budafok/Budapest, which became the heart of the current ageing cellar. Our partner, Vinoservice, also provided the customer with advice and support for this project and worked with Speidel to realise the Sauska family's plans.
Today, the family business is one of the most modern and innovative wineries in Hungary. This is the result of centuries of Hungarian winemaking tradition combined with innovative, modern approaches and the right tanks.
