Das Weingut Château Vino de la Isla auf Mallorca

Fink for Fincas

Château Vino de la Isla, Mallorca

Turquoise-blue seas, rugged rocky coasts, and Mediterranean charm. That’s why people know and love Mallorca – it’s what makes the island so special. But that’s not all: Amid this unique backdrop, Frisian winemaker Henri Fink founded the company WeinWert in 2016 with an extremely original business idea, thereby revitalizing the wine culture of an entire island.

The service company has made it its mission to plant and maintain vineyards on behalf of its clients. The clients are primarily owners of vacation homes with large plots of land that were previously lying fallow and uncultivated. The winemaker, with his international experience, immediately recognized this as an opportunity and was able to inspire private finca owners with the idea of growing their own wine there. This makes the dream of having one’s own wine a reality while also contributing to landscape conservation. This initiative has since resulted in over 100 hectares of vineyards across the island, between Andratx and Artà.

WeinWert offers a comprehensive, all-inclusive package that covers everything from expertise and equipment to skilled personnel, as well as vineyard management and sales. To provide all of these services, the company Château Vino de la Isla was founded and the château in Algaida was purchased – where both companies are now headquartered.

The wines are produced, aged, bottled, labeled, and sold there. Château Vino de la Isla also hosts wine tastings, guided tours, winemaking courses, and numerous events.

»With so many varieties to keep track of, Speidel’s stacking tanks in various sizes are incredibly practical.«

At Château Vino de la Isla, a total of 120 winemakers produce around 200 wines. To avoid getting confused by the sheer volume of wines, everything must be carefully separated and labeled in different tanks – which can be quite a challenge. It’s good to be able to rely on high-quality, durable tanks: “To keep track of so many varieties, Speidel’s stacking tanks in various sizes are incredibly practical,” explains Henri Fink – who also uses numerous variable capacity red wine mash tanks.

In all his projects, the winemaker is committed to practicing viticulture with transparency, integrity, and at the highest level. Henri Fink has been exceptionally successful in this effort so far, and it is sure to bear fruit for a long time to come – in the truest sense of the word.
